History
The Monte was founded in 1476, following the preaching of Observant Franciscan priest Cherubino da Spoleto. Cherubino himself was the head above the Monte reform in 1483. Later on, two of his confreres intervened, Pietro (1488) and Timoteo da Lucca (1493). In 1512, the institute ceased its activity following the sack by the Spanish troops. The activity resumed in 1524 thanks to the munificence of Pope Clement VII and Baldo Magini. In 1821, the Monte was forced to a new closure, yet was immediately reorganized and reopened the same year. By decree dated December 10th, 1942, the modalities for the incorporation of the Monte di credito su pegno di Prato into Cassa di Risparmio di Prato were established.
