History
The Monte was erected in 1522 with the twofold function of money and grain lending. This second activity prevailed, but also the pawnbroking activity remained constant. Probably the Monte was not re-funded after the napoleonic spoliation in 1797, in favour of the Monte di pietà di Roma, to which the local community turned.
